It’s okay, I’m alive!
I have fallen behind on pieces of the week because a) the nincompoops at AT&T inexplicably disconnected my Internet despite all my bills being on time, and then b) I got married a week ago. So here are the three delightful pieces that would have been:
The first is the chamber orchestra version of Frank Zappa’s “Dog Breath Variations.” If you watch closely you’ll see the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Stefan Dohr on horn.
The second is Alan Hovhaness’ Guitar Concerto, Op. 325. There’s no video, but it is available on Spotify. You will not be disappointed.
The third is a piece for solo trumpet and wind band, also by Hovhaness – “Return and Rebuild the Desolate Places.”
You’re welcome, odd-meter buffs.
